Table Tops ~ Panda Counting Book ~ Math

We had new table tops this morning.  Some decided to open a Chinese restaurant,

others built with blocks,

and a few painted with sponges.

After reading a panda counting book, we made a counting book.

In math, we balanced objects,

made pattern block pictures,

played a dice game,

and played a matching game.

Back To Routine

We had a normal F day.  The class was excited to come back to school, and we were excited to see everybody!  Mr. V taught us the Twist during Assembly - this was a fun way to kick off Monday!!

We are ready for 2011!
Please remember to send back boots, snow pants, swimsuits, and an extra set of clothes.  Hats and gloves are also needed in this cold weather.

Advent ~ Happy Birthday, Arman ~ Pattern Blocks ~ Star of the Week

Happy Birthday, Arman!

Thanks to Gavin's mom for sharing their family Advent traditions with the class.

We worked on holiday and winter pattern block pictures.  It was cool to see how one picture could be created using different combinations of blocks.

Alex is our Star of the Week.  She would like to someday have a cat.  Her favorite food is chocolate ice cream.  She likes to go to Franklin Park Conservatory, and she likes to play with friends.
Gavin's mom will be here later today to tell us how their family celebrates Advent.  I'll post these pictures later tonight.

We read a Kwanzaa story about a frog who wanted to sing.  After reading the story, the class made frogs.

Musical Frogs

We played Heads Up, 5 Up this afternoon.  It is usually Heads Up, 7 Up, but we changed it for our class.  Everyone had fun learning the game and playing it.

Chinese Jump Rope Routines

A very cool creation from table top time.

Everyone created his or her own jump rope routine.  We started with 4 main moves and then added more.

Everyone tried out the routines that they created.
